The trail will follow US 98 from the St. Marks Trail to the Ochlockonee Bay Trail at Surf Road. The section from the St. Marks Trail to Wakulla High School is completed. Further construction is scheduled in 2020 and beyond. (Detailed map and photos below.)
Bike Map... Coastal Trail
Location: Wakulla County
End Points: Segment 1: St. Marks Trail to Wakulla High School; Segment 2 (future): Wakulla High School to Surf Road; Segment 3 (future): St. Marks Trail to Lighthouse Road
Mileage: 12 miles, 25 when completed (one-way)
Nearby points of interest: St. Marks Lighthouse, Wakulla Springs, Mashes Sands Beach, Gulf Specimen Marine Lab
At the time of our visit, the section from Wakulla High School to Wildwood Drive was not quite complete - though technically not yet open, people were walking and biking on it. Though paralleling US 98, there is a wide buffer along most of the sections we observed.
